A warm welcome awaits you at Covenant Christian Church! Our building is located at 8510 Nevins Road Greenville, MI 48838, on the corner of Nevins Rd. and M57. Worship celebration starts at 11:00 a.m., followed by a delicious lunch/dinner. After lunch we have a whole-family theology class, or just a time of fellowship and recreation. We look forward to worshipping with you!
Here are a few of our distinctives:
The Biblical Gospel. Biblical evangelism proclaims the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ as God's appointed King, Judge and Savior, calls upon individuals to repent and be baptized into His Name for the forgiveness of sins, and to join Christ's Church in the regular reception of Christ's Body and Blood at the Communion Table, (Acts 2:36-42).
Reformed, Sacramental Theology. By "Reformed" we mean that Scripture compels us to be Calvinistic and covenantal in our view of salvation, the church, the family, and indeed all of life. By "Sacramental" we mean to communicate our joyful conviction that God, by the power of His Word and Spirit, truly unites us to Christ in baptism, and in an ongoing way truly applies to us the body and blood of Christ in the weekly partaking of The Lord's Supper.
Joyful, Reverent Worship. Rejecting the casual flippancy of so many modern churches, we seek to “Worship the Lord with reverence, and rejoice with trembling”, (Psalm 2:11). We believe that God meets with His people weekly to reaffirm and reapply His covenant promises. He does this by hearing our confession, forgiving our sins, and applying to us the Body and Blood of Christ as we look to Christ in faith. Hence, our worship is liturgical in style. We delight in singing the Psalms as well as solid, doctrinal hymns of the faith.
Covenant Community. We do not believe the church is called to try to make Christianity "culturally relevant". Rather, the church has been commissioned by Christ to transform the ungodly culture around us, proclaiming the relevancy of the Lordship of Christ over every sphere and detail of life. Within the church, we seek to create a culture that is close-knit and thoroughly biblical; a covenant community in which Christ and His Word are preeminent in all things.
Family Ministry. A truly biblical culture must be built upon biblically functioning covenant families, not upon the Darwinian model of age-segregated peer groups. We believe that parents must be trained and equipped to disciple their own children. Likewise, children must be taught to look to their own parents for discipleship, not to their peers or to young, trendy youth ministers. We believe that “restoring the hearts of the fathers to their children and the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:6) is absolutely essential for the reviving of Christ’s Church, so desperately needed in our day. We are in hearty agreement with “A Biblical Confession for Uniting Church and Family”. (See our Church and Family page).
